Here's another great tool for studying Scripture.

I'm posting late for a very good reason. We've already sold the desktop computer (gave away tonight), and the new computer isn't even here yet. Somewhere between Mesquite Texas and here. Jim says it will come tomorrow night, I say Friday. After all, it IS coming via UPS.

I've been reading lots of Scripture lately in the New Living Translation. It's such a good one for understanding a little better what is being done (especially in the OT). Just the other day I was reading in 1 Chronicles 21. Israel is experiencing famine since David had sinned. David asked God how he could end the famine, and God told him to build an altar on land that belonged to someone else. So David offered to buy the land from the owner, and the owner offered to give the land to him, along with anything else David would need to sacrifice to God on the altar. Here's David's response in verse 24: No, I insist on paying what it is worth. I cannot take what is yours and give it to the LORD. I will not offer a burnt offering that has cost me nothing! Is that not amazing? Convicting, isn't it?!!

And now, my favorite Psalm is Psalm 121:
I look up to the moutains--
Does my help come from there?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made the heavens and the earth!
He will not let you stumble and fall;
The one who watches over you will not sleep,
Indeed, He who watches over Israel
Never tires and never sleeps.
The LORD Himself watches over you!
The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade.
The sun will not hurt you by day,
Nor the moon at night.
The LORD keeps you from all evil
And preserves your life.
The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go,
Both now and forever.

Do you have an extra 24 hours or so to kill?

Church today was excellent! It was good to have Jeff preaching again...he hasn't preached for about 5 weeks, which was okay. We had Kirt preach about three of those, and he's a more than adequate stand in. It was a great message on coming back from the Mountain Top Experience...since the youth had just come back from camp.

Well, must go do some cleaning done.

This would be another great birthday gift...I bet Dad would like this !! Hmmmmm.....I still have till October for his birthday, though.
Have you ever wanted to know what you or a friend looked like as a baby? Here's your chance...this is so coool, I've looked up everyone I know! :)
I've been surfing this site for quite some time now...I've listeneed to Greg Laurie's message for Friday, then watched Day 7 on TBN. I'm so impressed with him...he never waters down the gospel at all, even for youth. He has a great ministry and God is blessing him. My sis got to go to his church last Sunday...cool!

I've been dreaming about my next vacation. If ya'll want to donate, please let me know!!

I can't believe it's time to start thinking aboutschool for Jacob. Please pray that maybe Jim would allow the kids to go to Cornerstone. I have deep convictions to not put the kids in public school, and Jim went to Christian schools his whole life. But I believe with prayer, he'll come to see it God's way, don't you think? (I need your prayers too, k?!! :)

Almost Friday!

Bummer there was no church tonight...church is taking the month of July off....It's a real drag...no prayer meetings. But, I have been able to get a few things done now and then. Thank goodness next week we're back in business. Wednesdays are hard, but worth every minute!

Praise the Lord! Jim came through the surgery just fine. He was a little sore of course, but the stone was disintigrated, and he's doing fine. He has to go back to the doctor next week just for a follow up, though.

Just came home from Bible Study tonight, and boy was it good. We're studying a book by Beverly LaHaye entitled The Spirit Controlled Woman. It's just a really great book, and God is really using it to teach me some things. So, therefore, I need to go finish cleaning the house so my choleric husband would feel appreciated. (That Phleggie in me just doesn't want to do it!). Read the book, you'll understand! :)

A good read about lithotripsy, in case you want to know exactly the purpose, precautions, description, preparation, after care and risks. Everything you need to know. Keep Jim in your prayers.
Jim's having a procedure done in the morning called a lithotripsy. They've found kidney stones, and this will use shockwaves to disintegrate the stones so they're able to pass through. Pray for him...I know he's nervous, even though it's supposed to be almost painless. It's non-invasive which is good, and only takes about 1/2 hour, then he can go home. But, still, he needs your prayers.
This is a great presentation of the Gospel. Awesome.
Idea #3 is The Family Man with Nic Cage. What an excellent movie this was... :)
Idea #2, of course Julie already knows about this one, but just in case she DIDN'T get Circadian Rhythm for me.....more to come.
Some of you may or may not know that my birthday is coming. For those of you who are obliged to give some sort of gift...here's a great idea. I'll be adding a couple more in case you check back every so often! K?!!

There's a lot of good reading and information about Charles Spurgeonhere at The Spurgeon Archive. I could spend a few hours here, but hence, I must do some housework! :) Enjoy
Sorry about no posting yesterday...it was a terrible day. I had to let go of an employee for the first time in my life. I took it harder than she did, I bet. I was so upset last night...I tried to tell hubby about it, but sometimes he's just a man. He just doesn't seem to understand why it bothers me so much. I just think what gives me the right to take away someone's complete income just because they didn't do what I think is good enough for the job. Don't get me wrong...it's a hard job. It's tough. Not every person can do the job. But still, it's the hardest thing you ever have to do in a supervisory role. At least the hardest thing so far for me. Hopefully there's nothing harder, or I don't think I could take it. But, anyway...God still provides. Isn't that where my focus should be anyway? :)

Thank goodness Kirt isn't this bad off! But it is funny! :)

How to Meditate on God's Word is an excellent place to start your prayer life and devotions. I've printed mine out, and will be using it every night before praying. I'm also trying to memorize scripture, so might find some sites soon that will help with that. Isn't the internet an amazing tool!
I've had some disturbing news today. I just found out that a former employer of mine (I'll call him Ed for privacy purposes) is in the hospital, and it doesn't look good. Since he retired, I've had some pretty terrible thoughts about him and his family, and the way he ran the business, etc. When I found out, my heart sank to my stomach. Can you say CONVICTION?!!! What was I doing? Certainly not what God wanted me to be doing! I talked bad about him, when I should have been lifting him up and witnessing to him. I thought bad thoughts about him when I should have been praying for him. I should have been placing his soul at the foot of the cross for Jesus to bring to Himself. But what did I do? None of that. I sinned not only against God, but against Ed. I pray that God would forgive my weak heart. But more than that I pray that God would bring this man to Himself in the supernatural way that only God can. After all, in our finite minds we think...If someone is incoherent, then how could he be saved? God says that His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. We just don't know. But I know He can do whatever He wants.

Sorry to be such a downer tonight. But, there is a time for everything under the sun, isn't there? Including mourning and sorrow. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

A couple friends have recently blessed me with some really yummy recipes...I thought I'd share them with you!

Cowboy Stew (this is a gem...given to me by Julie (my other sis))

Brown 1/4 lb bacon, chopped, 1 lb ground beef, and 1 medium onion (chopped) together.
Place the following in a crock pot:
1 28oz can Country Style Bush's baked beans
1 15 oz can of each, drained: kidney, butter beans, and Great Northern
1 10oz can diced tomatoes and green chiles (rotel)
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tsp mustard
2 tsp cider vinegar
1/2 tsp salt
dash pepper
1 lb smoked sausage (Hillshire Farms) cubed in bite-size pieces.
Add the meat mixture. Allow to cook on low so flavors can mingle. Takes about 3 hours.
It's worth the wait. Yummy!

The next one's a really yummy dessert, but it doesn't have a title:

White cake mix
2 boxes white chocolate instant pudding
large cool whip
1 large cookies & creme candy bar

Make cake according to box.
Make pudding according to box.
Miix 1/2 cool whip with pudding.
Layer: 1. Broken cake pieces
2. Pudding mixture
3. Crumbled candy bar
Top with remaining cool whip. Chill & serve. YUM!

Hey, how do ya like the new layout?!! Groovy, eh!

What a devotional by Charles Spurgeon. It's amazing how he can take one simple verse of Scripture and expound on it so amazing and fresh that it will bring tears to your eyes, and your knees to the floor. It will even bring your face to the floor in awesome reverence of God and how sovereign He really is. "Jesus will be your power."

Wow, this is a great site! You can read the entire Bible one verse at a time, and in nine different versions. I still have to do a little more research in this site, but there are also links to commentaries for each verse, cross-references, and daily devotions by Spurgeon, and Oswald Chambers. This is going on my favorites list under DAILY's. Spurgeon is amazing! There are also hymn lyrics that were written from whichever verse you're studying. I was studying Leviticus 6:13: The fire shall ever be burning upon the alter, it shall never go out. Charles Wesley wrote a hymn based on this verse, and the lyrics follow.

O Thou Who camest from above,
The pure celestial fire to impart,
Kindle a flame of sacred love
Upon the mean altar of my heart.

There let it for Thy glory burn
With inextinguishable blaze,
And trembling to its source return,
In humble prayer and fervent praise.

Jesus, confirm my heart's desire
To work and speak and think for Thee;
Still let me guard the holy fire,
And still stir up Thy gift in me.

Ready for all Thy perfect will,
My acts of faith and love repeat,
Till death Thy endless mercies seal,
And make my sacrifice complete.

Now THAT's online Bible study!

This is a wonderful testimony? from a former Jehovah's Witness. God still saves, doesn't He!!!

I began watching Notting Hill tonight. It used to be one of my favorite movies. But tonight I felt so convicted. I know there are things in that movie (too countless to mention) that don't please God. If that's true, then why should I be watching it? So I turned it off. Thank God He also still convicts and His Holy Spirit still guides. Where would I be without Him?

Going straight to hell, that's where!

Circadian Rhythm ::: Over.Under.Everything. :::

This is becoming a favorite band of mine very quickly. And what an awesome testimony.
My new sister Julie just had a lump removed, and found out today that it wasn't cancerous! Praise the Lord!!!

Psalm 118:29 says:
Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
His faithful love endures forever.

On my CD player today: Mercy Me: The Worship Project. What a fantastic CD!

Psalm 30
I will praise you, LORD, for you have rescued me.
You refused to let my enemies triumph over me.
O LORD my God, I cried out to you for help,
And you restored my health.
You brought me up from the grave, O LORD.
You kept me from falling into the pit of death.
Sing to the LORD, all you godly ones!
Praise His holy name.
His anger lasts for a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime!
Weeping my go on all night,
But joy comes with the morning.
When I was prosperous I said,
"Nothing can stop me now!"
Your favor, O LORD, made me as secure as a mountain.
Then you turned away from me, and I was shattered.
I cried out to you, O LORD.
I begged the Lord for mercy, saying,
"What will you gain if I die,
If I sink down into the grave?
Can it tell the world of your faithfulness?
Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me.
Help me, O LORD."
You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing.
You have taken away my clothes of mourning
and clothed me with joy,
that I might sing praises to you and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever!
I wanted to create a journal of what God is doing in our family since we decided not only to start tithing, but also to begin rapid debt elimination. We are going by a program created by Bruce & Ruthie Ammons called Conquering Debt God's Way. This teaches that you don't have to tithe, but that scripture teaches it, and therefore we can't afford not to.

We have started to tithe, and things have been a little tight. About a month ago, things were so tight that we didn't even have the money to go to the grocery store. I'd gone to the prayer meeting one Wednesday night and prayed that God would answer our prayers for a little money. (We had lots of food in the house, but not things like milk, etc.) The next day, a check for $60 came in the mail...we'd paid too much on a credit card bill one month, so that was returned to us. Why? Miracle Money. We were able to buy substantial groceries (thank God for the military grocery store!). God is good all the time!!

Now, we've had a looming bill from the pest control company when we found out we had termites. We had to get the house treated, and that was going to be about 4 monthly payments of $350 (over and above our usual bills). Ouch. Then, the day care where the kids used to go to called, and said we still owed $400 in tuition. We don't know how or why, but we prayed and prayed, and we felt God telling us that we had to pay it. So, that's been looming as well. The first month we paid $100. Then we counted our change in the change box, and there was $185. We went to the bank, deposited it, and then wrote a check to the daycare for $185. That left $150 left of that bill. Then, we had ordered some CD's from a music club, and hadn't paid for those yet. We had to pay for those by August 1 to fulfill our membership contract. We had about $60 outstanding.

My husband called today and said, "Guess how much I got paid today?" Well, it was well over $500 above what he usually gets paid. So, all the bills (pest control, day care, and music) got paid OFF. We still owed about $590 on the pest control. We paid three bills off in one day, thanks to God's miracle money!!

God is blessing immensly. We have to say we weren't sure, but we always knew God was sovereign. We just had to test God. In fact, in Malachi, God ASKS us to test him. He says to tithe to Him, and see how He blesses. He answers prayers!!!

Thank the good Lord for His blessings and mercy!! And we've only been doing this for 2 months! And, now we'll be able to start making double payments on the van. About $700 per month...which will pay it off as fast as possible. Then, every bonus, every penny we find will go to that bill till it's paid off.
